Free mileage log for gig drivers

Write down each trip with its date, purpose and miles. The log adds your business miles and shows your deduction using the IRS rate for the date of each trip. Download it as a CSV for Excel or Google Sheets, or print it.

Your trips

Add one line per trip or per day: date, purpose and business miles. The deduction uses the IRS rate for the date of each trip.

IRS standard mileage rates for 2026: 72.5 cents per mile from January 1 to June 30 and 76 cents from July 1 to December 31. Source: IRS standard mileage rates

This log is a record-keeping aid and an estimate, not tax advice. The IRS expects a record of the date, purpose and miles of each business trip. Your log is saved only in this browser. Dates outside 2026 have no rate loaded here; check the IRS rate for that year. Confirm with a licensed professional before acting on these numbers.

How to use this mileage log

  1. Add a trip. Pick the date, write the purpose (for example "DoorDash deliveries") and the business miles for that trip or day.
  2. Check the rate. Each line shows the IRS rate for its date. In 2026 the rate is 72.5 cents per mile until June 30 and 76 cents from July 1 (IRS standard mileage rates).
  3. Watch the total. The big number is your estimated deduction for all the lines in the log.
  4. Save a copy. Download the CSV regularly or print the log. The log is saved only in this browser.

What to write down for each trip

The IRS says you need complete records to back up what you report on a tax return. The safest habit is to write down, at the time you drive, the date, the business purpose and the miles. A log made on the same day is easier to trust than one rebuilt at tax time.

Standard mileage rate or actual expenses

You can deduct vehicle costs with the standard mileage rate or with your actual expenses. For a car you own, the IRS says you must choose the standard mileage rate in the first year the car is available for use in your business; later you can switch to actual expenses (IRS Publication 463). Talk to a tax professional before you decide, because the choice can limit you in later years.

Is this log enough for the IRS?

It is a tool to help you keep records, not tax advice or a guarantee. Keep it together with your app statements and your bills. To see whether a gig is worth your miles, use the real pay per hour calculator.

Frequently asked questions

Does the log work for Uber, Lyft, DoorDash, Instacart and Grubhub?

Yes. It does not connect to any app. You write your own trips, so it works for any kind of driving you do for work.

Are my trips sent anywhere?

No. They stay in this browser on this device. If you clear your browser data you lose the log, so download the CSV from time to time.

Why does a date show "No IRS rate loaded"?

This log only has the 2026 rates. For another year, look up the IRS rate for that year and multiply it by your miles.
